The long-range benefit of this program for our students is astounding. Our students attend college - an average of 95% every year. However, only a third are courageous enough to apply to schools outside New York City, even though countless more have the ability to be accepted to universities all over the country. Many of our students are the first person in their families to graduate from high school, so imagining themselves living alone in a university setting is difficult, to say the least. The students who do attend the conference return to school with far more ambitious college plans than they previously held. And sending students to Tufts each year not only influences those who go, but also their friends who are worried about going away to college.
